The Homewood Arts Council will host the inaugural Pickin’ in the Park jam session and music festival June 28 in Homewood Central Park.
Several local musicians will take the stage and also perform with musically-inclined audience members. Those attending are encouraged to bring their friends, family members, chairs and musical instruments.
The free event will run from 4-6 p.m. and will include plenty of shades tents and ice and water to cool off festival-goers. Food trucks will also be on hand for the event.
The Homewood Arts Council will give out 200 T-shirts and 500 buttons at the festival.
Among the performers slated for the festival are The Birmingham Nouveoux Reinhardt Group, a contemporary and traditional gyspy jazz ensemble and Cottonmouth Creek, a folksy-yet-edgey bluegrass band from Birmingham.
