Laura Elizabeth Scott and Phillip Justin Young were married May 23 at 4 p.m. at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. Dr. Danny Wood officiated. A reception followed at Vestavia Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Louis Scott of Vestavia Hills. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sara Huffman and the late Mr. Elbird Gordon Huffman, and Mr. Herman L. “Bubba” Scott and the late Mrs. Dorothy Scott, all of Montgomery. 

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hudson Young of Zephyrhills, Fla. He is the grandson of Mrs. Marian Seiler and the late Mr. Justin Alfred Seiler of Mansfield, Ohio, and Mrs. Gladys Campbell and the late Mr. Floyd Ellsworth Campbell of Zephyrhills, Fla., and the late Dr. Earl Hudson Young of Youngstown, Ohio.

The bride was presented for marriage by her father. Her sister, Susan Scott Carothers, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Allison Elisabeth Brainerd, Lindsey Lee English, Emily Kay Graffius, Carolyn Young Knothe, Callie Stone Nash, Allison Ray Scott and Chaney Stephens Shafferman.

The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Suneal Singh Bedi, Justin Michael Brazell, Danny Wright Burgess, Alexander Hooker Carothers, Stuart Alan Jones, Craig Rigsby Ruchti, Ian Andrew Spicer and Erik Paul Wagner.   

Following a honeymoon trip to Caneel Bay, the couple lives in Dayton, Ohio, where the groom will serve as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
