A new survey will gauge the needs and interests of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning community in the Birmingham area.
The B-Heard survey, which is presented through a partnership between the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham and the UAB School of Public Health, is the first of its kind in the area and is aimed at Shelby, Jefferson, Walker, St. Clair and Blount counties.
The survey is open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQ, their relatives and friends, and allies of the community as well as health care, mental health, social work and education professionals.
“This survey will tell us how our community compares nationally and will highlight the major needs and concerns of the local LGBTQ community, their families and friends, their teachers, counselors, physicians and other service providers,” a press release said. “The B-Heard online survey will be used to set priorities and create an action plan to identify funding needs and improve services for the LGBTQ population.”
The survey will be available online through Nov. 16 and those who complete it are eligible to enter a raffle for a $100 Amazon gift card. For more information or to take the survey, visit www.bheardsurvey.org.
