The Alabama Retail Association has named the 2015 Retailers of the Year. Among the 13 honorees are several Over the Mountain businesses.
The businesses will be honored at the ARA’s 16th annual luncheon in Birmingham at 11 a.m. on Oct. 6. The luncheon will be a part of the 34th annual Alabama Retail Day. Stu Crum, president of Bridgestone Retail Operations, will serve as the luncheon’s speaker.
Businesses were chosen by a panel of representatives with positions in the Alabama media, the local chambers of commerce, retail developers and former Alabama Retailer of the Year winners. Over the Mountain honorees include Otey’s Tavern in Mountain Brook, owned by Will Haver Jr., Silvertron Cafe in Birmingham, owned by Marco and Elan Morosini, Steel City Pops, which has six locations and is originally Homewood-based, owned by Jim Watkins, and Newk’s Eatery, which has six Birmingham-area locations and is Hoover-based, owned by Todd and Sonya Jackson.
Tickets for the annual luncheon are $50. For more information or to register, visit www.alabamaretail.org/retaildayregistration/.
