Hoover Helps, a non-profit that battles food insecurity in the Hoover community, is inviting all Hoover Bucs and Spain Park Jags football fans to “help beat hunger” in the 8th annual Hunger Challenge.
The Hunger Challenge will once again take place in conjunction with the annual football matchup between the city’s two high schools. The game this year will take place this Friday night, September 2nd, at 7:00pm at the Hoover Met.
Fans for both teams compete to see which school can raise the most money for Hoover Helps by the end of game day. Spain Park will be looking to three-peat after narrowly winning the Hunger Challenge in 2020 and 2021. Last year, fans of the schools raised over $25,000 to defeat hunger, with Spain Park coming from behind to secure a victory by less than $800.
To help your team and Hoover Helps, go to Hooverhelps.org and donate and choose which team you want to support. You can also use Venmo @Hooverhelps! Please help feed a student, it only takes $5 a weekend or $225 for the school year.
