Mountain Brook Police Officer George French recently was presented with an award to recognize his service to the police department and the city’s business community.
French has been community relations officer with the department, performing the functions of a public information officer, business liaison, social media manager and recruiter, according to a press release from the city. He also has been a use of force, situational awareness, taser and defensive tactics instructor, and he has managed the smartphone app that provides citizens with updates on real time events and safety matters.
French is leaving the department for a job with another agency.
Last year, he was named city Employee of the Year and Officer of the Year for Mountain Brook.
According to the press release, French lives by the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, “Go where there is no path and leave a trail.”
