United Way of Central Alabama has rebranded its volunteer center.
United Way Hands On, formerly known as Hands On Birmingham, now has a new name and logo, as well as new services and a new volunteer platform. In addition, the organization has identified more organizations that need help and links to groups looking to serve.
The organization’s new website is linked to a platform named Involve, with new engagement tools for registration and searching for volunteer opportunities.
Hands On partners with over 150 nonprofits, Birmingham Parks and Recreation and schools in five different counties.
According to United way officials, anyone can search and register for local volunteer opportunities and search for causes they care about. Their information is stored to review, manage memberships, track their hours, and share their experiences with others by posting comments and pictures.
The rebranded volunteer initiative came about with the upsurge in social responsibility, according to officials, and the need to move the needle on important community issues.
Other new aspects of the rebrand include the expansion into all of United Way’s five-county area, which includes Jefferson, Shelby, Walker, Blount and St. Clair Counties
Hands On will also be working hand-in-hand with UWCA to expand and deepen community engagement, therefore helping bring about positive social change through the power of volunteerism.
