Before turkeys are carved, the Levite Jewish Community Center will kick-off Thanksgiving Day by hosting the annual Sam Lapidus Montclair Run.
The Nov. 28 event will include a 5K, 10K and 1-mile fun run, all benefiting the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s of Alabama and the LJCC.
The run honors the life of the late Sam Lapidus, an LJCC member and Mountain Brook resident who lost his battle with Ewing’s sarcoma in November 2008, nine days before his 15th birthday.
Race participants will take part in a USA Track and Field-certified course, starting and ending at the LJCC. Teams of runners will be judged on costumes and team spirit before the race.
