Girls Rock Birmingham is best known for its one-week summer camp, where girls learn an instrument, form bands, write an original song, and perform it onstage, all in one week. Ladies Rock Camp is a condensed version of its summer camp for women 18 and up.
Twenty women from all over Birmingham and beyond come together to learn how to play guitar, bass, drums or keyboard; form bands; write an original song; and perform it in just one weekend. They will debut their songs in a showcase at Saturn on March 1st at 3 p.m. Four Ladies Rock bands will be featured in addition to a Girls Rock Bham band and a band of coaches.
The showcase on Sunday, March 1 is open to the public and tickets cost $10. Tickets are available through Saturn’s website or at the door. All proceeds go to help Girls Rock Birmingham bring events to youth and inspire the next generation of musicians.
Girls Rock organizations exist throughout the world, and Birmingham is the home to the only
Girls Rock program in Alabama. Girls Rock Birmingham hosts camps for youth aged 10-16 each
summer, and Ladies Rock Birmingham provides a unique experience for adults to access
similar music education and creative outlets. The program builds on Girls Rock Birmingham’s
mission to create inclusive music spaces, challenge the status quo and amplify
