Samford University Legacy League culminated its yearlong centennial celebration on Thursday, April 23 with a spectacular event featuring a concert by Act of Congress. The 100th Anniversary Scholarship Celebration at Covenant Presbyterian Church included a seated dinner presented by Samford Dining by Aramark. Proceeds from this milestone event support the Legacy League’s life-changing scholarship program for students with significant financial need and challenging life circumstances.
Formally founded as the Howard College Auxiliary by 16 women in 1925, the organization was renamed Samford University Legacy League in 2001. The Legacy League, supported by over 800 members, has awarded over $2.1 million in scholarships. Students in the organization’s transformative cohort program have endured challenges including abandonment, parental addiction, death or disability of a parent or sibling, homelessness, inner-city violence and the sacrifices of full-time ministry.
