Opera Birmingham will host the 36th annual Opera Competition May 17 from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Hulsey Recital Hall at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The event will feature 20 outstanding young singers competing for more than $10,000 in cash prizes and performance opportunities. Admission is $25. Hulsey Recital Hall is at 950 13th St. South.
