A recent survey of Mountain Brook residents reveals they are almost completely satisfied with the overall quality of life in the city.
The survey taken in January by the marketing research firm ETC Institute at the city’s request revealed that 98 percent of Mountain Brook residents are pleased with their lives in the Over the Mountain suburb.
In the survey, Mountain Brook residents were asked about the city streets, facilities, traffic, school system, library and parks and recreation programs.
The survey indicated that only about 11 percent of those who took the survey were dissatisfied with any city services, with the city’s management of traffic and congestion being the only major concerns of Mountain Brook residents.
The survey found that residents’ satisfaction levels in Mountain Brook are significantly higher than the national average. The city rated 41 percent above the national average on the overall satisfaction of city services.
The survey also indicated that 70 percent of residents responding said they use the city sidewalks on a weekly basis, and 77 percent said they recycle every week. The survey also showed that only 43 percent of the city’s residents shop outside of Mountain Brook a few times a week and 37 percent use the city’s public Wi-Fi services on a weekly basis.
About 68 percent of those responding to the survey said they believe street resurfacing is the most important capital improvement project for Mountain Brook.
City Manager Sam Gaston said he was pleased with the results of the survey.
“I was very pleased with the very positive results of the survey and at the same time very humbled by the confidence our residents have in our city government,” Gaston said. “We are blessed in Mountain Brook to have strong leadership by our mayor and city council as well as professional, dedicated employees who go the extra mile to serve.”
