Denney-Brasovan
Dr. and Mrs. David Denney of Mountain Brook announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Elizabeth, to Peter Alexander Brasovan, son of Dr. Srbislav Brasovan and Ms. Laura Brasovan of Crown Point, Ind.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lazarus and the late Mrs. Sonia Rosen Lazarus, all of Birmingham, and Dr. and Mrs. Calvin Denney of Dothan.
Miss Denney is a graduate of Mountain Brook High School and Point Park University in Pittsburgh, where she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre and a minor in dance. She is a member of Actors Equity Association and is a yoga and fitness instructor. Miss Denney is employed as the client advocate with ExactTarget in Indianapolis.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Ms. Betty Peters of Crown Point.
Mr. Brasovan is a graduate of Merrillville High School and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where he received bachelor’s degrees in marketing and supply chain management and played Division 1 college soccer. He is co-owner and a CrossFit coach at CrossFit NapTown in Indianapolis.
The wedding is planned for May 18 at Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham with a reception to follow at The Club.
Herndon-Neill
Dr. and Mrs. Michael Joseph Friedlander of Roanoke, Va., formerly of Birmingham, announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Cathleen Herndon, to Zacary Rockwell Neill, son of Mrs. Lynn Killian Neill of Hendersonville, N.C., and Mr. Don Samuel Neill of Hendersonville.
Miss Herndon is the daughter of the late Mr. David Burrell Herndon of Atlanta, formerly of Birmingham.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Nancy Teitloff McGill of Nashville, Tenn., the late Mr. L.C. Teitloff and Mrs. Jane Atherton Herndon of Livermore, Ky., and the late Mr. Shirley Burrell Herndon.
Miss Herndon is a graduate of The Altamont School in Birmingham and a cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, the Concert Choir and co-chairman of Project Pumpkin. She is a graduate of Cumberland School of Law and is co-chairman of member development for the Junior League of Asheville and co-chairman of professional development for the Young Professionals Association of Asheville. Miss Herndon is director of annual giving at the University of North Carolina, Asheville.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Harold Killian of Greenville, S.C., Mrs. Helen Sossamon Neill of Hendersonville. and the late Elmer Yates Neill.
Mr. Neill is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega, and the University of North Carolina School of Law.
He is a criminal defense attorney in Hendersonville.
The wedding is planned for Oct. 5.
Crisler-Gresham
Laura Ellene Crisler and William Albert Gresham Jr. were married Oct. 20 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood. Dr. Gary Fenton officiated the ceremony. A reception followed at The Club of Birmingham.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert William Crisler of Vestavia Hills. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Albert Gresham of Norfolk, Va.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a formal gown of Alencon lace. The strapless sweetheart gown featured a molded bodice. A jeweled belt of silk encircled the natural waistline. The circular skirt of lace swept to an extended chapel train. The bride wore her mother’s cathedral-length veil.
The maid of honor was Rebecca Lyn Crisler, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Dr. Michelle Koch Davis, Madoline Marie Markham, Lauren Annette Rucker and Mary Frances Wilks.
Rachel Elizabeth Collins, cousin of the bride, was guest book attendant.
The groom’s father was his best man. Groomsmen were Thomas Ellis Gresham and Charles Forbes Gresham, brothers of the groom, Phillip Raymond Hage, Dr. Andrew Kessler Johnson, and Charles Clayton Blackwell McCoy.
The bride is a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders and the University of Memphis with a master’s degree in speech language pathology. She is employed by the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk.
The groom is a graduate of Norfolk Academy and Hampden-Sydney College with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is employed by E.T. Gresham Company.
After a honeymoon trip to Costa Rica, the couple lives in Norfolk.
