The American Cancer Society will host the 33rd annual Hope Gala at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 at a private club in Birmingham. This year’s event will honor the late Major and Mrs. Charles D. Beard Jr. and family. The black-tie event begins with a reception that includes a silent auction followed by an elegant dinner and performances by The Undergrounders. A late-night party ticket will be offered for those who want to attend for drinks, dinner and dancing. There will also be a live auction.
