
Mountain Brook 60, Fairhope 50

Senior Colby Jones scored 29 points, sinking 11-of-18 shots from the field, and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Mountain Brook to a 60-50 victory against the Fairhope Pirates in the boys Class 7A semifinals Thursday afternoon.
The Spartans (32-2) clinched a berth in the state finals for the seventh time in the last eight seasons and will be looking for their fourth consecutive title when they meet Lee-Montgomery (32-1) in the championship game at 5:45 Saturday.
Jones, a Xavier signee, also had three assists, three steals and two blocked shots.
“When you have a guy like Colby Jones who can fill up the stat sheet and make everyone around him better, that’s special,” Mountain Brook coach Bucky McMillan said.
Holt Bashinsky and Carter Sobera added 12 points each for Mountain Brook. Sobera also had eight rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Junior guard Riley Leonard scored 22 points and collected nine rebounds to lead Fairhope (24-5).
Mountain Brook has won five state titles in the past seven years.

Lee-Montgomery 65, Oak Mountain 57
Senior Zane Nelson sank 5-of-7 three-point attempts and finished with 25 points, but it wasn’t enough as Oak Mountain’s first trip to the state tournament ended with a 65-57 loss to Lee-Montgomery in the morning semifinal.
Nelson also had six rebounds and four assists. Wilder Evers added 10 points for the Eagles (22-9).
Lee used a big third quarter to seize control. The Generals outscored the Eagles 22-11 in the period to turn a 24-23 halftime lead into a 46-34 advantage.
Senior point guard De’marquiese Miles led the Generals with 20 points, three assists, four steals and no turnovers. Jamari Smith added 12 points and 12 rebounds and Deyunkrea Lewis had 12 points and two steals.
The championship games will be live-streamed over the NFHS Network’s subscriber-based platform and are also being shown over the AHSAA TV Network’s group of cable affiliates in Alabama. WOTM TV is producing all games.
