On Friday March 27th Birmingham native Anthony Crawford will perform at Workplay with his musical partner and wife Savana Lee. Crawford is a veteran songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for performing more than 300 shows with Neil Young, touring and recording with Young’s bands including the Shocking Pinks, the International Harvesters, and the Electric Band, and appearing on Young’s Grammy-winning album Prairie Wind. Earlier in his career Crawford spent time in Los Angeles recording with producer Pete Anderson, the guitarist and producer behind Dwight Yoakam’s early records. During that same era he also toured extensively with singer-songwriter Nicolette Larson, whom he met while performing in Neil Young’s band. Over the years Crawford has collaborated with artists including Steve Winwood, Dwight Yoakam, Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, and Steve Forbert, while his songs have been recorded by Kenny Rogers, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Sawyer Brown, Billy Burnette, Lee Greenwood, and Lorrie Morgan. Now based on the Alabama Gulf Coast, Crawford performs with his wife and musical partner Savana Lee, presenting an intimate evening of songs and stories drawn from decades of life on the road and a lifetime devoted to American roots music.
