The Junior League of Birmingham (JLB) is now accepting applications for the JLB Beeson Community Fund. The fund was established in 2001 thanks to a gift from the Lucille Beeson Residuary Trust, allowing the League to expand its charitable reach and make a greater impact in the Birmingham community.
Letters of intent are due by October 2nd, 2026. To be eligible for funding, organizations must be a 501(c)(3) and located within Jefferson and Shelby counties. Priority is given to projects/programs that align with the Junior League of Birmingham’s mission and promote systemic change within our community through transformational initiatives.
JLB has awarded more than $8 million through the JLB Beeson Community Fund since its inception. This year, JLB completed its grant agreements with the following: 16th Street Baptist Church, Birmingham Botanical Society, Children’s Aid Society of Alabama, Freshwater Land Trust, Junior Achievement of Alabama, and Jefferson County Greenways Foundation. During the 2026 grant cycle, JLB’s Beeson Community Fund Committee received and thoroughly reviewed nearly 100 applications before selecting three exceptional beneficiaries. The projects selected to receive 2026 JLB Beeson Community Fund grants include:
