Audubon Teaches Nature Program

The Alabama Wildlife Center and the Birmingham Audubon Society will present an Audubon Teaches Nature program about the creatures found in vernal pools on Feb. 9. The event will be held at the Alabama Wildlife Center at Oak Mountain State Park. Refreshments will be offered in the center’s observation room at 1:30 p.m. followed by the program at 2 p.m. at the Oak Mountain Interpretive Center next door to the AWC. The event is free after paid admission to Oak Mountain State Park, $1 for children ages 6-11 and seniors 62 and older and $3 for adults. Guest speaker David Frings will talk about several species of salamanders found at the park. After the program, those attending can visit a vernal pool to see salamander egg masses firsthand.
