Leon Maisel, a professor and author from Mobile, will be at the Barnes & Noble Summit on Saturday, June 6th from 2-4 p.m. to sign his debut novel of historical fiction titled Normandy, Echoes in Blood.
From the blood-soaked beaches of World War II Normandy to the fog-shrouded waters off the French coast where a little-known American Civil War naval battle once raged — Maisel’s Normandy, Echoes in Blood debut novel is a thriller that stitches two eras of history into a single, narrative and pivots to the current war on terrorism. The story involves a young woman who has a vested interest in the Civil War battle fought in Normandy waters. We are later introduced to an adept CIA operative brought in to solve the crime and prevent another tragedy in Normandy.
Leon Maisel is a native and resident of the Gulf Coast. He has been a copywriter and a feature writer as well as a former tourism CEO. He is currently a professor at the University of South Alabama and holds a doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California. His lifelong interest in World War II history motivated him to go to Normandy and view the D-Day site at Omaha Beach. He then walked the cemetery grounds of American soldiers who sacrificed their lives. This profound experience inspired him to write Normandy, Echoes in Blood.
