Aware Mountain Brook, a group formed in February to create an environment and forums for residents to speak freely about depression, substance abuse and other issues, will host a Town Talk at 6 p.m. April 17 at Park Lane, 2717 Cahaba Road in English Village. The event will feature Mountain Brook resident and author Sue W. Martin, who will talk about her new book, “Out of the Whirlpool.” The book tells how she rebuilt her life after an impetuous act in her youth ended in traumatic blindness.
