The Homewood location for Big Spoon Creamery will have its grand opening on Fri., Feb. 1 at noon. The creamery is at 929 Oxmoor Road.
As we previously reported, owners Ryan and Geri-Martha O’Hara will continue making the ice cream at the Avondale location. The Homewood location will have the same menu as the shop in Avondale, with the exception of each shop’s exclusive flavor. Avondale is home of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream, and Homewood will be home of the Fruity Pebbles flavor.
“While our guests can expect much of the same outstanding ice cream and service they’ve come to expect in Avondale, we do plan to have some things that are unique to Homewood, so guests can look forward to some fun surprises,” Ryan said in a statement. “We’re also thrilled to offer more seating options in this location, so patrons can expect an even more guest and family friendly atmosphere than before.”
The owners said that they have wanted to open a storefront in Homewood ever since they first started their ice cream company. Back in 2014, Big Spoon would make deliveries to the homes and offices of the members of their ice cream club.
“We had a ton of ice cream club members in Homewood,” Ryan O’Hara said, “and we’ve already heard from several of them that they’re so excited, because they used to get those deliveries, and they don’t anymore, so they’re excited to have us in their neighborhood.”
