The deadline for the first round of a talent search for a musical fundraiser in Mountain Brook wraps up today at noon.
Performers are battling it out in an online competition to earn a spot in the Crestline Rocks line-up, which will be held Sept. 27.
Those interested in auditioning for Crestline Rocks must submit applications and a YouTube video by noon on Aug. 15.
The music portion of Crestline Rocks gives local musicians the chance to showcase their talents on stage in front of hundreds of fans, all while supporting a worthy cause.
For the second year in a row, IBERIABANK’s Crestline Rocks, sponsorsed by Otey’s and Taco Mama will transform Crestline Village into a “shop and groove block party” to raise money for PreSchool Partners, organizers said.
PreSchool Partners is a nonprofit organization that aims to prepare preschool children and their parents for kindergarten in the Birmingham City school system.
The first round of the online competition to select bands for Crestline Rocks ends Aug. 24. Fans can vote for their favorite performers among the 15 selected for the first round of the competition at PreSchool-Partners.org.
The 15 performers will be narrowed to a field of 10 in round two of the talent search. Round two ends on at 8 p.m. on Sept. 3 and those selected for round three will be invited to play at Crestline Rocks for one hour and will be provided with backline equipment and publicity.
The weekend of festivities will actually start out on Set. 25 with the Character Crawl through Crestline. From 5-8 pm, families can meet and mingle with their favorite characters, mascots and personalities, eat, shop and help kick off this year’s Crestline Rocks.
The last day of the event on Sept. 27 will feature performances by the Hams featuring Jimmy Gauld, Jim Harmon, Lee Hurley and Laine Pool and Rollin’ in the Hay.
Organizers said Crestline Rocks will go on, rain or shine, on the grassy lawn across from Emmet O’Neal Library.
Tickets for Crestline Rocks are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets for 10 and younger are $5.
