Devyani Dance Company, the world-renowned Birmingham-based Belly Dance troupe, will host international dance teacher and performer Colleena Shakti Sept. 23-25 at Children’s Dance Foundation in Homewood.
This enchanting dancer who performs for the Princes of Rajasthan and the President of India will teach Odissi Indian Classical Dance, Indian Fusion Belly Dance, and Rajasthani Gypsy Dance in the weekend of workshops.
Devyani Dance Company, Birmingham-based Natyananda Dance Company, and others will join Ms. Shakti for a gala performance at Children’s Dance Foundation at 7 p.m. Sept. 25.
The weekend will include a six-hour intensive in Odissi Indian Classical Dance, a two-hour introduction to Indian Fusion Belly Dance and one of the oldest classical dance forms of India, and a four-hour Rajasthani Gypsy Dance workshop.
