A festive evening of dining, music and poetry was had by all as Emmet O’Neal Library hosted a Burns Night celebration.
Tartan-clad guests gathered were welcomed to the venue by bagpipers to celebrate Scotland’s National Poet, Robert Burns, and the country’s proud literary history.
A grand Scottish feast commenced with a Selkirk Grace, which has been attributed to Robert Burns. The dinner included a Piping in of the Haggis, an Address to the Haggis and Toast to the Haggis, followed by supper, musical entertainment and poetry readings.
The event concluded with The Immortal Memory – a speech and toast to Burns – followed by a Toast to the Lassies, a Toast to the Laddies and the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
