Popular ‘60s party band The Ramblers are calling it quits after 61 years with a party on Aug. 6 at Iron City in Birmingham.
“We think this will be our last performance. Sixty-one years is long enough. Please come and help us celebrate,” said band member John Robinson in an announcement on the group’s website, www.ramblermusic.com.
Tommy Terrell, Eddie Terrell and Robinson formed the band in 1961 and played current hits of the 1960s, which today are rock and roll classics.
The Rambler Reunion Band entertains at wedding receptions, reunion parties, company parties, club dances, and most any event that requires authentic 60’s rock and roll music. The group performed regularly at high school and college dances, debutante parties and cotillions. Personnel changes occurred over the years and in 1979 the band regrouped as the Rambler Reunion Band.
Doors at Iron City will open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. Guest performers will be Johnny B. as Elvis and Vicki Hallman. Admission is $20 and there will be a cash bar. For more information, go to www.ramblermusic.com.
