Steve French has announced that he is withdrawing from the House District 46 race.
French was scheduled to face David Faulkner in the July 15 Republican primary runoff.
In a statement released on the morning of June 12, French said that “life events have gotten in the way of a good plan” and that it is no longer prudent for him to continue his campaign.
“Therefore, I am announcing both the withdrawal of my candidacy from the July 15 House District 46 Republican primary runoff and my support for David Faulkner, for whom I wish the best,” French said the the press release.
In the June 3 primary, French received 2,081 or 26 percent of the votes cast in the House District 46 race to Faulkner’s 3,582 votes, or 45 percent.
French and Faulkner, both of Mountain Brook, outlasted Justin Barkley of Homewood and Pamela Blackmore-Jenkins of Hoover to make it to the July 15 runoff.
Faulkner will face Libertarian Steven Tucker in the November general election.
