The Birmingham Botanical Gardens kicked off Antiques at The Gardens presented by Iberiabank with the Sterne Agee Gala in The Gardens Oct. 4.
The annual black-tie event was reinvigorated for its seventh year, welcoming more than 500 guests to shop Alabama’s premiere antiques show before it opened to the public.
The show included dealers presenting antiques, furniture, porcelain, fine art, silver, garden accessories and jewelry.
This year, Antiques at The Gardens featured Tastemakers, regionally and nationally known architects, interior designers and landscape designers. Each designer curated a themed area with goods selected from Birmingham and other sources around the country.
Tastemakers were Barbara Ashford, Wendy Barze, Tammy Connor, Cameron Crowe, Cathy Harvey, Leah Hazzard, Judy Hill, Bill Ingram, Marjorie Johnston, Karen Luce, Mary Evelyn McKee, Ware Porter, Troy Rhone, Kitty White and Liz Woods.
Tastemakers joined national dealers, including John Dennison Fine Art from North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Thomas M. Fortner Antiques from Memphis, Tenn., Joseph M. Hayes from Columbus, Ohio., McDounough Fine Art from Atlanta, Edwin C. Skinner Antiques from Fairhope and Whitehall Antiques from Chapel Hill, N.C.
This year’s gala offered cuisine from some of Birmingham’s finest culinary Tastemakers, including Veranda on Highland, Fleming’s, Ocean, Kathy G & Company and daniel george.
Author Alex Hitz mingled with the crowd before his appearance at the Red Diamond Lecture and luncheon Oct. 5. Guests made their way to Blount Plaza as the evening concluded, dancing to the sounds of the Tip Tops.
