Dr. James C. Grotting was named the president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. A clinical professor of plastic surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Grotting also operates a private practice in Birmingham, is a senior examiner and director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
In addition to being President of ASAPS, Grotting has served as chair of the Society’s education commission and is a board member of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation, a non-profit research and education arm of ASAPS. He serves on numerous editorial boards and is the author of five major textbooks in the specialty of plastic surgery. Dr. Grotting has also provided free plastic surgery for children with facial deformities in developing countries through Operation Smile since 1987.
Dr. Grotting is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, past president of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and is a traveling professor for both the Plastic Surgery Foundation and ASAPS. He is the founder of CosmetAssure, an insurance program that covers unexpected financial exposure for patients from complications in cosmetic surgery.
