The 13th annual High Country 5K Race will be held April 5 at Shades Crest Baptist Church in Hoover. Voted the second best race in Birmingham in 2010, this year’s event will kick off at 8 a.m. at the church, 452 Park Ave. There will be a free kids’ fun run at 9 a.m. The third annual Elementary School Team Challenge for Hoover elementary schools will also be part of the event. Registration is $20 before March 21, $25 from March 22-April 4 and $30 on the day of the race. Through March 21, family registration is $50. Participants will get a T-shirt, pre-race pasta dinner on April 4 catered by California Pizza Kitchen and a post-race pancake breakfast during the awards ceremony.
