Homewood wrapped a successful 2025 regular season on the road with an impressive 31-14 win over 7A James Clemens Thursday night in Madison. The Patriots dominated on both sides of the ball, using a balanced offensive attack and opportunistic defense to head into the playoffs on a high note.
Quarterback Kaleb Carson had another outstanding night, completing 17 of 27 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown while also rushing six times for 56 yards and another score. Senior running back Davis Griffin paced the ground game with 107 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, including a 27-yard burst that helped put the game away in the second half. Caden Chapleau added a short touchdown run as Homewood piled up 218 rushing yards on the night.
Carson spread the ball around to seven receivers, with Trey Felton catching six passes for 82 yards and Ryan Goldstein hauling in two passes for 17 yards and a touchdown. Devin Walden added four catches for 28 yards, while Hugo DeCoudres and JT Watts chipped in two receptions apiece.
The Patriots’ defense clamped down in the second half, holding the Jets to just 22 passing yards after halftime while forcing a key turnover. Special teams also delivered: Chapleau returned a kickoff 69 yards to set up a score, and kicker Judson Eanes was perfect on the night, hitting all five extra points and a 27-yard field goal.
Homewood finished with 386 total yards and zero turnovers, closing the regular season at 8-2 and carrying plenty of momentum into the playoffs.
The Patriots will host a much-improved Pell City Panthers squad in the first round of the ASHAA playoffs on Friday, November 7, at Waldrop Stadium.
