Designed to provide a safe and convenient environment for non-profit organizations, Hub in the Hills offers reduced facility costs for its occupants.
Set in the former home of Vestavia Elementary Central —the setting has been redesigned to support non-profit organizations for kids and adults with disabilities, along with other ministry-minded organizations.
The group’s first hurdle was cleared when the Vestavia Hills Board of Education members agreed to enter into a purchase contract with Hub in the Hills. “We’ve come a long way, thanks to the support we’ve received from the community. Our goal has always been to create a first-class facility for partners who make a positive impact in the community and beyond. Our reduced overhead cost model allows these organizations to put more resources into improving the quality of life for so many through education, advocacy, ministry and serving those with
disabilities,” according to co-founder Will Akin.
Hub in the Hills’ new tenants include:
– Unless U (unlessu.org): a school for adults with special needs that also provides job opportunities and workforce development.
– Alabama Gamechangers (alabamagamechangers.org): a medical clinic offering supportive services for children who struggle with dyslexia and attention deficit disorder.
– Oakhill Classical Academy (oakhillbham.org): Oak Hill Classical Academy, a new Christian school in Birmingham, Alabama, serving grades Kindergarten through sixth grade.
– Little Bridge Kids (littlebridgekids.com): For ages 3-8, Little Bridges provides the behavioral and academic gaps for children who need a little extra support outside of the classroom.
