On November 21st Kimberly L. Smith, author of Passport through Darkness: A True Story of Danger and Second Chances and president of Make Way Partners, will share her extraordinary story from the comfort of Corporate America to the life-risking desert of Darfur, Sudan, where she works to literally save orphans from slave raiders and hyenas.
Passport through Darkness is an intimate account of both the tragic toll and triumphant redemption that her life’s work has had upon her, her husband, Milton, who waits and prays at home, and their marriage.
Make Way Partners (MWP) is a Birmingham-based non-profit organization committed to prevent and combat human trafficking. MWP goes where women and children are at highest risk (usually war zones) and little to no other help is available.
The event will be hosted at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church at 9:30 and is open to anyone interested, particularly those longing to find their role in the fight against human trafficking and their purpose in life.
