The City of Mountain Brook Board of Education named Brad Sklar president during its meeting on June 16. Sklar has served on the Mountain Brook school board for the past four years. He is a board member and shareholder at Sirote & Permutt law firm.
“We are privileged to have Dicky Barlow as a great superintendent in addition to energetic board members,” Sklar said. “We are excited to continue to work hard to provide the resources necessary for our administrators, teachers and principals to meet the needs of our students. The mission of Mountain Brook schools is to provide an effective, challenging and engaging education for each one of our students. This has been our mission and our focus in the past and will continue to be so in the future.”
Sklar, a Mountain Brook High School graduate, is an active member of the community, serving in leadership roles for many organizations and boards. He serves as a chair of the Finance and Taxation Committee of the Birmingham Business Alliance and is a past participant in Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama. He and his wife, Stephanie, have one child in the Mountain Brook School system.
