Just off Interstate 20 in Irondale, tucked beside youth baseball fields and family traffic, sits a storefront unlike any other in the Birmingham area.
Inside, visitors can sample different honeys, peek inside a bee colony, browse shelves of beekeeping equipment and candles made from local beeswax or sign up for classes on everything from beekeeping to pollinator education.

For owner Adam Hickman, that kind of space once felt far out of reach. “This was originally a hobby,” Hickman says. “I am my customer. I built the business out of a need for good teaching and good equipment available locally.”
What began as a small business selling extra beekeeping supplies has steadily evolved into one of the Southeast’s more recognizable beekeeping brands. Over the past few years, the company has expanded from a garage operation to a downtown Birmingham warehouse storefront and, most recently, into a new 5,000-square-foot retail and education center in Irondale.
