The UAB Alys Stephens Center will present”An Evening with Ben Folds” Aug. 20.
The event includes a free pre-party at 6:30 p.m. with live music from the Rev. Johnson and the Modern Sun, food for sale from the First Market’s Yellow Bicycle and drink specials.
The 8 p.m. show is a back-to-school event co-presented with UAB’s Office of Student Involvement Blaze Productions in the center’s Jemison Concert Hall.

The show is part of the Davis Architects “Music We Love” series.
Folds is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He first found mainstream success as the leader of the critically acclaimed, platinum-selling group Ben Folds Five.
Now a solo artist, Folds has recorded three studio albums, two live records, remixes and more. Although best known for his piano prowess, Folds also plays bass, guitar and drums.
