
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary’s annual fundraiser, 2010 Tablescapes, will be Sept. 22 at the Metropolitan Church of God off Acton Road. Besides the decorated tablescapes, the event will feature a fashion show by Belk, silent auction and bake sale.
Tablescapes designed by auxiliary members and friends of the auxiliary, include Wedding Surprise and Autumn Delight by Lynne Heaven, Barbara Stuman and Gena Wood; The Golden Age and A Pink Christmas by Bea Elsberry; Good Fortune by Allison Burleson; Dandy Daisies by Anne Chace and Dorothy McDaniel; Live, Laugh, Love by Jane Mantooth and Mary Ann Dennis; In His Service by Darlene Vaningan; In the Garden by Haley Spratt; Harvest of Righteousness by Marsha Drennen; Stars and Stripes Forever by Provy Murphrey; Green with Envy and Almost Christmas by Rita Wood; Birds of a Feather by Nancy Warden; and The Way of The Cross and Angels Among Us by Laine Crook.
Art by Diane Shepherd, a blue topaz ring from Levy’s Jewelry, tickets to Red Mountain, Virginia Samford and Rave theatres, vintage silver from an estate and gift certificates to area businesses are among the many items in the silent auction.
Once again, waiters representing area businesses and local TV stations will be serving attendees. Waiters include John Archibald of The Birmingham News, James Spann of ABC 33-40, David Lamb of Channel 13, Salvation Army Major Todd Smith and Salvation Army Board Members Coy Collinsworth, Alain Gallet, Carl Jernigan and Gary Wyatt and friends of the Salvation Army Tony Ballard, Bob Brown, Jim Drennen, Dr. Carl Johnson, Tom Warren, Ed Wood and many others. All funds raised will benefit the Salvation Army programs and services supported by the women’s auxiliary.
Planning the event are Fundraising Chairman Rita Wood along with Laine Crook – tablescapes, Marsha Drennen – waiters, Carol Medders – reservations, Nancy Warden – silent auction, Bobby Jean Tucker – bake sale, Provy Murphrey – auction check-out, June Pryor – auxiliary President, and Major Christine Smith – Salvation Army Coordinator of Women’s Ministries.
