Tubbs earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with certification in physical education. In 2008, he received his master’s degree in education from the University of West Alabama.
During his 17 years in education, Tubbs has worked as a teacher and coach in Jefferson County, Mountain Brook and at Birmingham-Southern College. At Birmingham-Southern, he helped form the first women’s basketball team (NCAA Division I) and served on the NCAA Gender Equity Committee.
At the high school level, he served on the Alabama High School Athletic Association District 5 Basketball Committee and coached, coordinated and managed various aspects of successful athletic programs.
