Samford University Legacy League will kick off its second century of service and new program year at its annual Fall Luncheon with Kelley Brown, a Beeson Divinity School graduate and writer for Proverbs 31’s First 5 app.
A founding member and current board member of Storytellers Live, Kelley has been a writer, speaker and Bible teacher for over 25 years. She and her husband, Scott, live in Vestavia and have four children. Two of their daughters joined their family through international adoption — a story that continues to shape their lives with gratitude and perspective.
God calls us to community not for perfection but for connection,” Kelley says. “He knows we’re stronger together.” The September 24 event, which is open to the public, will offer attendees the opportunity to hear an inspiring message from Kelley, enjoy a delicious meal and learn more about the Legacy League’s caring community and mission.
Founded in 1925, the Legacy League has awarded over $2.5 million in scholarships to assist students who have faced obstacles including homelessness, inner city violence, death or disability of a parent, abandonment, parental addiction and incarceration and the sacrifices of full-time ministry. In addition to providing generous scholarships, the organization provides extra measures of support and practical assistance for the students in its cohort.
Doors open for the luncheon at 10:45 a.m., and the program will begin at 11:30 a.m. and conclude by 1 p.m. Individual reservations (required) are $39, and tables of 10 are also available. For more information and to make reservations, visit samford.edu/legacyleague.
