The Watercolor Society of Alabama will hold its annual Alabama Members’ Showcase Sept. 14-Oct. 27 at the Birmingham Public Library art gallery.
The opening awards reception will be Sept. 19 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Juror for the exhibit is University of Montevallo professor Scott Stephens. He has chosen 56 aqua
media paintings to be in the showcase. These were selected from entries made by Alabama artists who are members of the Watercolor Society of Alabama.
Birmingham area artists whose works will appear in the exhibit include Craig Gallaway, Barbara Prior, Walt Costilow, Vestavia Hills; George Jackson, Ray Kersh, Cynthia Hay, Melinda Mathews, Homewood; Anne Reiser, Pat Carroll, Lynn Briggs, Charlotte McDavid, Karen Ohlman, Carolyn Collins, Marjoryn Creighton, Tora Johnson, Caroline Lavender, Jack Hasson, Mountain Brook; and Diane Shepherd, Winnie Cooper, Jan Courter, Lynne Whittington, Laura Lewis, Hoover.
Others are J. David Davidson, Shoals; Yvonne Andrews, Highland Lakes; and Christine Meredith, Pelham.
Hostesses for the opening reception are Lynne Whittington, Laura Lewis, Carolyn Collins, Yvonne Andrews and Karen Ohlman. Kitty David of Let’s Celebrate will cater the event with floral arrangements provided by Norton’s Florist. Music will be provided by pianist Adeline Reiser.
Tora Johnson is showcase chairman; Craig Gallaway is WSA president.
The WSA’s annual meeting will be held before the opening reception Sept. 19 at 2:30 in the
Linn-Henley Building of the library. Anyone interested in membership is welcome to attend.
