The Monday Night Dancers hosted a dance on Aug. 5 to celebrate longtime volunteer Zella Listerman and the last dance at the Vestavia Hills Seniors Lodge.
Listerman has served as the volunteer leader at the lodge for the past 11 years, and will hand her duties over to Carl Jones and Doris Kinney. Due to Wald Park renovations, the lodge will be removed and dancers will continue to meet in the Dogwood Room at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center.
At her last dance, Mayor Ashley Curry presented Listerman with a certificate of recognition for her dedication to seniors planning.
As volunteer leader for the lodge, Listerman coordinated the Monday Night Dancers events, booked live music, hosted holiday celebrations and coordinated all special events, including weddings, birthdays, and more.
Though she is retired, Listerman plans to continue dancing with the group.
The Monday Night Dancers meet each Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center.
